Consumer Wire Transfers

The following instructions are for consumer users wiring money. For more information on how Narmi handles wire transfers, go to About Wires.

To add a recipient, go to Add a New Wire Recipient. To manage wire recipients on the web app, go to Wire Recipients. To manage wire recipients on the mobile app, go to Manage Wire Recipients.

Note: Narmi Banking only supports domestic wire transfers, not international wire transfers.

Wire Money on Web

To wire money via the web app:

  1. From the Transfer page, select Wire.

    Options for sending money include transfer, bill pay, member to member, and wire.


  2. In the form that appears, select/enter information for the wire. This includes the following fields:

    • From – Select the account the wire will be sent from

    • To â€“ Select the recipient of the wire. To add a new recipient, select Add a new recipient from the list. Go to Add a New Wire Recipient for instructions.

    • Amount â€“ Enter the amount of the transaction. Wire transfer limits can be applied for individuals or organizations via segmentation. For more information, go to Transfer Limits.

    • Wire reason – Select a reason for the wire. To enable wire reasons, please contact your Narmi Relationship Manager. Once enabled, to customize wire reasons, go to Narmi Command under Configurations > Institution Settings > Wire Reason Types. To view the wire reason for a transaction, go to Narmi Command under Transactions > Wire manager > View all wire transactions.
      The default wire reasons are:

      • Dividends

      • Interest payment on loan

      • Investments

      • Non-dividends distributions

      • Payments for products

      • Payments for services

      • Purchase of real estate

      • Rent

      • Return of loan principal

      • Transfer between own accounts

      • Other

    • Memo (required) – Enter a note about the transaction (up to 140 characters)

      Below the Memo field, select View your wire transfer limits and disclosures to learn about wire fees or limits. This may also include cut-off times for same-day wire processing. For information on limits, go to Transfer Limits. For instructions on editing disclosures, go to Transfer Disclosures.

      After entering the required information, select Review.

  3. If your institution has two-factor authentication enabled for wires, the next page requires identity verification by entering a verification code. Select a method of verification, then select Continue. Follow the prompt on the next page to enter the code that appears on the trusted device.
    If your institution wants to enable or disable two-factor authentication for wires, go to Narmi Command under Institution Settings > Features Requiring Elevated Authentication > Wires. You can also configure how long the user has to complete two-factor authentication before they are prompted again. The default is 60 seconds, and you can configure this under Institution Settings > Elevated Authentication Mode Duration. For more information, go to Elevated Authentication.

    Account verification options for receiving security codes via backup codes, email, or phone.


  4. Review the wire information, and if everything looks correct, select Make transfer. A confirmation message appears if the wire was sent successfully.

To manage wire recipients on the web app, go to Recipients.

Wire Money on Mobile

To wire money via the mobile app:

  1. From the Transfers page on the mobile app, select Wire.

  2. Enter information for the wire. This includes the following required fields:

    • Amount – Enter the amount of the wire transaction. Wire transfer limits can be applied for individuals or organizations via segmentation. For more information, go to Transfer Limits.

    • From – Select the account the wire will be sent from

    • To – Select the recipient of the wire. To add a new recipient, select Add a recipient. Go to Add a New Wire Recipient for instructions. If there are no recipients to select, the option to add a recipient automatically appears.

    • Wire reason – Select a reason for the wire. To enable wire reasons, please contact your Narmi Relationship Manager. Once enabled, to customize wire reasons, go to Narmi Command under Configurations > Institution Settings > Wire Reason Types. To view the wire reason for a transaction, go to Narmi Command under Transactions > Wire manager > View all wire transactions.
