Audiences in Narmi Command

Prev Next

Our Audiences feature empowers staff and marketers to create custom user groups based on shared actions and attributes, enabling more personalized promotions and driving higher click-through rates. Once created, these audiences can be targeted directly within the Promotions tool in Narmi Command. Instead of targeting users based on one predefined segment, users can now belong to multiple dynamically managed audiences, ensuring deeper and more effective promotional targeting.

There are three ways to create audiences:

  • Upload a static list – Upload a *.CSV file of users by username, email, or core ID.

  • Create a dynamic audience – Build a custom audience that automatically updates as users meet or no longer meet defined criteria.

  • Generate with Narmi AI – Quickly receive suggested criteria and refine results by providing additional input.
Note: The AI feature is only available upon request. Please contact your Narmi Relationship Manager to enable it.

Upload a Static Audience List

Upload a custom list of users via *.CSV file if you would like to define a static audience. Unlike creating a custom audience, this list is not dynamically updated. The select users included in the list are the exact users who will see the specific promotion in their web and mobile apps.

To upload an audience:

  1. From Narmi Command, select Audiences > Upload audience.

  2. In the Details section that appears, enter an audience name and optional description. Select Continue.

Form fields for entering audience name and description with a continue button.

  3. In the Upload audience section, select the user attribute that is used in the uploaded CSV. The options are: Usernames, Emails, and Core user ID.

  4. Select Upload CSV. The number of users in the audience appears after the CSV has been successfully uploaded.

  5. Select Continue. If the file contains invalid data (e.g., invalid email, usernames, or core IDs), an error message appears notifying you that the file contains invalid entries. You can proceed with one of two options:

    • Preview invalid CSV – This option highlights all the invalid data, allowing you to choose whether to adjust the original file and re-upload it.

    • Discard and continue – This option removes all invalid data from the file and creates an audience based on the valid entries.

  6. Once you are satisfied with the audience, select Continue.

  7. Review the details of the audience and select Save.

The Audiences table displays the newly created audience with a static user count.

User count for Branch 285 Users is displayed as 176, updated manually.

Manually Create a Dynamic Audience

Manually create a custom audience if you would like an audience that is dynamically updated. Custom audiences are based on a set of actions and user attributes; therefore, once an audience is created, any users who meet the specified criteria will be included in the audience, while users who no longer meet the criteria will be excluded.

To create a custom audience:

  1. From Narmi Command, select Audiences > Create audience.
Aqua Bank interface showing audience management options and user details.

  2. In the Details section that appears, enter an audience name and an optional description. Select Continue.

Form fields for entering audience name and description with a continue button.

  3. In the Custom audience section, select Add user action or Add user attribute.

      • Select the timeframe for the event, with the option to either select:

        1. anytime (the user performed the selected action at least once during the specified time period) or most recently (the user's latest recorded action matches the selected value)

        2. during the timeframe (the action occurred within a fixed time period) or since the timeframe (the action occurred after a specific time and through the present).

        3. Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 60 days, or Last 90 days. Selecting this option means the timeframe will be applied to actions that happened in the past 7, 30, 60, or 90 days.

    • Add user attribute – Target users based on the following stable characteristics:

      • Customer type – Consumer or business

      • Segment – Based on the segment set on your institution’s core

      • Product – Based on the specific product your customers have

      • Age of account (days) – How long the customer has been banking with the financial institution

When adding more than one action or attribute, you have the ability to select and or or logic:

    • and – A user must meet all of the “and” criteria to be included in the audience.

    • or – A user must meet one or the other of the "or" criteria to be included in the audience.

For example, in the image below, two actions were added with and logic, which means the audience consists of users who fit both criteria—those who have linked an external account one or more times within the last 90 days and have logged in one or more times within the last 7 days.
