Manage high message volumes by assigning or unassigning multiple messages simultaneously from the main Messages page. Staff can assign threads to themselves, another colleague, or a team, which triggers an immediate notification in the assignee’s Inbox. This streamlined workflow eliminates duplicate efforts and helps your staff quickly identify which messages require attention. By establishing clear ownership and institution-wide visibility, your team can prioritize responses more effectively and maintain high levels of accountability.

Permissions

Staff users must have the following permissions to assign or unassign messages.

  • Can change staff assignment – To assign a message to an individual staff member

  • Can change thread – To assign a message to a team

  • Can view staff assignment – To view the individual “Assignee” in the main Messages page and the conversation view of a message

  • Can view Team – To view the “Team” in the main Messages page and the conversation view of a message

Note: Staff users need the permissions above to assign and unassign messages, but all staff users in the organization can be assigned a message without needing permissions.

To set permissions, from the Narmi Command sidebar, select Staff members > Roles.

Assign/Unassign a Message from the List

To assign or unassign a message from the main Messages list:

  1. From the Narmi Command sidebar, select Messages.

  2. Check the box next to the message(s) you need to assign/unassign and select Assign to.

    To select all messages in the list, check the top box.

  3. To assign, select one staff member or team from the list that appears. Individuals appear first in the list, followed by teams.
    To unassign, select No individual assignee.

The new assignee appears in the Assignee or Team column of the appropriate status tab.

The assignee receives a notification in their Narmi Command inbox. The message also appears in their Assigned to me or Assigned to my team tab when they log in to Narmi Command.

Note: Notifications for unassigned messages will remain in staff inboxes.

Assign/Unassign a Message from the Conversation View

You can also assign a message directly from the message thread:

  1. From the Narmi Command sidebar, select Messages. Choose a message from the list to open it.

  2. Select Assignee.

  3. To assign a message, choose a staff member’s name.

    To unassign, choose Unassigned.

    The assignment is automatically saved.
