Deposit a Check Remotely

Article Summary

Before depositing a check, read these tips to prevent remote deposit capture (RDC) issues. When preparing the check, make sure to sign the back of the check and add "for mobile deposit only."

To deposit a check remotely using the mobile app:

  1. Select Deposit on the bottom navigation bar.

  2. A screen with instructions and deposit limits appears. Select Got it to accept the terms and continue. The instructions will reappear if one week has passed since the user selected Got it. To read the terms, choose photo check deposit.
To customize the instructions under "Prepare the check," go to the Admin Platform and select Institution Settings > RDC Instructions.

  3. On the "Check Deposit" screen that appears, select Front to begin the capture process. Follow the guidance provided in the app to take photos of the front and back of the check. Select the info icon to view deposit instructions and limits. Select View History to see a list of past deposits.

To retake the photo, select the front or back image, then choose Retake photo.
  4. Select the account to select the account you want to deposit the check.

  5. Select Enter the amount and use the number pad that appears to enter the check amount.

  6. Select Deposit to finish.
    Confirmable Messages
At this point, if any errors are found from Ensenta (such as signature not detected or date invalid), a message appears asking the user to correct the image and confirm. These messages are configured via Ensenta. Please get in touch with your Narmi Relationship Manager to configure.

When the error appears, users select the front and/or back photo to retake, then select Confirm.

For more troubleshooting information, go to Mobile Deposit Photo Capture Issues.

  7. Once the check is deposited, a summary appears. The Expected availability date is shown in business days and comes from the following segment-level setting: features.hold_days.rdc_hold_days. If that setting does not exist, it uses the value from the Mobile Check Deposit Hold Days institution setting in the Admin Platform.
Select Done to return to the home screen or select Make another deposit to deposit another check. For subsequent deposits, the Deposit to field will automatically default to the account selected for the previous deposit.
