With remote deposits, your financial institution can allow users to deposit checks electronically without having to use an ATM or visit a branch office. With remote deposit capture (RDC) technology, paper checks are digitally scanned, and an image of the check is electronically transmitted to your financial institution. Remote deposits can streamline and improve the efficiency of your institution's operations. For your customers, remote deposits improve cash flow while helping reduce the time, cost, risks, and waste resulting from physical check deposits. Remote deposits can be made to Checking, Savings, and Money Market account types.
For instructions on depositing checks via the mobile app, go to Deposit a Check Remotely.
Remote Deposit Vendors
Narmi partners with the following third-party vendors for RDC:
- Mitek MiSnap – A patented mobile-capture solution that enables an intuitive user experience and instant capture of quality images. Mitek is responsible for capturing a still image of the front and back of the checks that are deposited.
- Ensenta – Ensenta is owned by Jack Henry and provides cloud-based, real-time payment and deposit solutions for web and mobile. Ensenta takes the scanned image from Mitek and is responsible for risk review, real-time posting, error messages, and movement of funds.
Remote Deposit Settings
The following settings apply to remote deposits and are available from the Admin Platform under Institution Settings:
- Mobile Check Deposit Hold Days – This is the default number of days your institution will hold mobile deposit funds. The Expected availability date is shown in business days on the deposit receipt once the remote deposit is completed. This number of days can also be adjusted at the segment level by using the segment setting
features.hold_days.rdc_hold_days
. For more information on segmentation, contact your Narmi Relationship Manager. - Mobile Check Deposit Real Time Posting – This determines whether or not funds can be immediately available after a remote deposit. This can be
true
(immediately available) orfalse
(not immediately available.) If this is set tofalse
, there should be no Immediate RDC limit set in your segment (see below for information on this setting.) - RDC Instructions – These are the instructions that appear when a user selects Deposit from the bottom navigation bar or selects the question mark icon in the "Check deposit" screen. Selecting Got it closes the instructions. If one week has passed since the user selected Got it, the instructions will reappear.
- RDC Terms & Conditions URL – This is the URL for your institution's Remote Deposit Capture terms and conditions. When a user selects Deposit from the bottom navigation bar for the first time, the instructions include a photo check deposit link that opens this URL. The user can also access these instructions by selecting the question mark icon in the "Check deposit" screen.
- Immediate RDC limit – This is the amount that is immediately available to the user from remote deposits. This setting is not visible in Institution Settings, so please contact your Narmi Relationship Manager to edit this setting.
