Eligibility questions serve as a critical component of the account opening process, enabling your institution to gather essential applicant information while ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations. Every new applicant must complete eligibility questions as part of the Consumer Account Opening flow, and every new and existing applicant must complete them as part of the Business Account Opening flow. In the Staff-Led Account Opening flow, eligibility questions are optional. To configure eligibility questions, please contact your Narmi Relationship Manager.
Your institution can configure three types of eligibility questions:
Yes/No – Simple binary choice questions that determine if an applicant can proceed
Drop-down – Multiple-choice questions that determine eligibility based on selected options
Freeform – Text-based questions that collect additional information but do not affect the applicant’s ability to proceed with the application. Note: Freeform questions are not available for Staff-Led Account Opening.
The following conditions apply to eligibility questions:
Your institution can customize these eligibility questions or remove the page entirely.
You can allow none of the answers to block the application, so all applicants are eligible.
You can have separate eligibility questions for Consumer Account Opening, Business Account Opening, and Staff-Led Account Opening.
There is a 128-character limit for each question, but no limit on the number of questions.
Questions can include hyperlinks, which open in a new browser tab so applicants do not exit the account opening flow.
For Staff-Led Account Opening, the eligibility section does not affect the applicant's ability to proceed with the application, but provides information about the applicant to your institution.
Eligibility in the Consumer Account Opening Flow
For consumer applicants, the eligibility questions appear after they specify that they are a new customer. Existing consumer applicants do not complete eligibility questions.
Eligibility in the Business Account Opening Flow
For business applicants, eligibility questions appear after the applicant verifies their identity.
The first question asks whether the business has opened an account with your institution before. If the answer is Yes, and the applicant is eligible for an account from their answers to the other questions, they will be taken through the existing user flow. If the answer is No, they will be taken through the new user flow.
Your institution can customize the rest of the eligibility questions, but we recommend not changing the first question.
Eligibility in the Staff-Led Account Opening Flow
Eligibility questions appear in step 1 of the Staff-Led Account Opening flow under the Eligibility section for new and existing applicants.
The questions are optional and do not affect the applicant's ability to proceed with the application but provide information about the applicant to your institution.
