Change Core User ID

Prev Next

Your institution may need to create a new core ID record for a user, for example, if the user’s account has been compromised. Your institution can link a pre-existing Narmi account to a new core account by using the Change Core User ID tool. This enhances the user experience by allowing users to continue using their existing login without re-enrolling.

Please refer to Permissions for User Actions for the permissions required to perform this action.

Please note the following before performing this action:

  • This is a very high-risk action and should only be performed if the user's core user ID information has been independently verified.

  • This action applies only to consumer users, not business users.

  • The Change core user ID option is only available in the three dots menu of the user profile after the user's account is locked.

  • If your institution is a bank, this action will not work if the old core user ID has been closed on the core and disconnected from the user in the Narmi platform.

  • Transactions from the user's previous accounts will be imported if they exist in the core. If the user's transaction history does not update after performing this action, please contact Narmi Support.

  • If the user is enrolled in automatic savings, they will be unenrolled from automatic savings after performing this action.

We recommend the following steps for changing a core user ID:

  1. The compromised user reaches out to your institution's Support team.

  2. Your staff verifies the compromised user in accordance with your institution's policies and procedures.

  3. Your staff finds the user's account in Narmi Command > Customers/Members and locks the user from the three dots menu > Lock user.

  4. Your staff creates a new core ID for the user on the core.

  5. Your Support team works with the user to ensure their account settings are up to date (email, phone, 2FA, etc.).

  6. Your staff finds the user's profile in Narmi Command > Customers/Members and selects the three dots menu > Change core user ID. (This option is only available once the user's account is locked.) Enter the new core ID and select Update core user ID. The changes occur immediately.

  7. Your staff unlocks the user's account.

Warning about changing core user ID, emphasizing high risk and instructions for users.
