AFS Positive Pay is a comprehensive fraud prevention solution offered by Advanced Fraud Solutions (AFS). It helps protect against check and ACH fraud by automatically comparing transactions presented for payment against a list of authorized payments provided by the business. Any discrepancies, called "exceptions," are flagged for the business to review and decide whether to approve or reject the payment.
How AFS Positive Pay Works
The core process involves three steps:
Contribute (File Upload) – The business sends the bank an electronic "issue file" detailing all authorized checks and/or ACH payments (including amount, number, and payee).
Query (Matching) – The AFS system automatically compares every incoming check or ACH transaction presented for payment against the list of authorized items the business provided.
Alert (Exception Handling) – If an item's details do not match the issue file, the item is flagged as an "exception," and the business receives a real-time alert to review the item and decide whether to approve it or return it as fraudulent.
When an exception is generated, the business is responsible for reviewing the suspicious item and instructing the bank on how to proceed.
AFS Positive Pay Implementation via SSO in Narmi
Implementing AFS Positive Pay via Single Sign-On (SSO) integrates the fraud-prevention service directly into the Narmi Banking platform. SSO allows a user to access multiple, independent applications with a single set of login credentials.
Business users must contact your institution’s staff to manually enroll in person or by phone. Staff members can enroll users by entering their Positive Pay credentials in Narmi Command via Customers/Members > select the user's name > Actions > Add Positive Pay credentials.
Once enrolled, the business user accesses Positive Pay from Narmi Banking via Tools > Positive Pay. This seamless integration allows users to manage their Positive Pay exceptions from a single dashboard without logging in to a separate application.
